synopsis
Physicist Emily has invented time travel and found the love of her life. But Emily is not only brilliant, she is also seriously unstable. After a heated argument with her husband, she just snaps and jumps back in time to give her marriage another try. But to do that, she has to kill her other self – which proves harder than imagined. On top of that, her future husband follows her to the past. He won’t give up on her so easily. Now Emily is stuck and has to decide between two versions of her husband and deal with another Emily, discovering things about herself, she’d rather not know…
DIRECTORS’/AUTHORS’ STATEMENT
If we had the power to travel back in time, we might be tempted to revisit key moments of our lives and change them. But what moments would that be? Which decision started us on that path, that we wish to escape from? And would changing that decision indeed change the outcome?
RECURSE is a very intimate and psychological approach to the time-travel sub-genre, cutting deeply into the more sinister regions of our souls. It explores not only causality and chaos, but also conscience, inquiring into the realm of guilt, shame and our deepest fears. What would we change? What do we fear to change? How far would we go?
